The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has given the green light for the Pakistan hockey team to participate in the Asian Champions Trophy in India. This came after they got the all-clear from the necessary government departments and bodies.

The competition will be happening in Chennai from August 3 to August 12. Pakistan’s journey in the tournament will kick off with a match against Malaysia on August 3. Other teams they’ll play against include India, South Korea, Japan, and China. Historically, Pakistan has done well in the Asian Champions Trophy, bagging the champion’s title in 2012 and 2013.

In 2018, they shared the championship with India. South Korea holds the title, having beaten Japan in the final game in 2021. Before the start of the tournament, the Pakistan Hockey Federation’s President, Brigadier (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, dropped by the team’s camp to wish them well.

He also gave the players daily allowances and rewarded the junior team for their second-place finish in the Junior Asia Cup.
